Sociology of the family

Sarah Cunningham-Burley is Professor of Medical and Family Sociology Public Health Sciences and Co-director of the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships at the University of Edinburgh. She is involved in a range of research, including the Growing Up Scotland cohort study and new qualitative longitudinal study of work and family life. She also conducts research on the social aspects of genetics and stem cell research and is a member of the UK government's Human Genetics Commission.

National Statistics : Focus on Religion

Focus on Religion paints a picture of the different faith groups in the UK today. It looks separately at Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Information comparing and contrasting the characteristics of the main faith groups, their lifestyles and experiences is presented. It draws on information from the 2001 Census – the first time Great Britain included a question on religion – and other sources. Each overview in the Focus on series combines data from the 2001 Census and other sources to illustrate its topic, and provide links to further information.

This resource is the website of Re-Solv, the national charity solely dedicated to the prevention of solvent and volatile substance abuse (VSA). Re-Solv operates throughout the United Kingdom. The site offers information about solvent and volatile substance abuse in a range of formats, including factsheets, more in depth on-line training courses and details about the range of other publications and services available through Re-Solv.

The Scottish Drugs Forum

Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) is the national non-government drugs policy and information agency working in partnership with others to co-ordinate effective responses to drug use in Scotland. SDF aims to support and represent, at both local and national levels, a wide range of interests, promoting collaborative, evidence-based responses to drug use.

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland

The Richmond Fellowship is a charity which provides community-based services for people who require support in their lives. Their services work in person-centred ways to offer choice, promote inclusion and maximise ability. The Fellowship operates 189 services across Scotland supporting more than 2000 people to live as independently as possible within their own homes and communities.
