Not a one way street : research into older people’s experiences of support based on mutuality and reciprocity : interim report

This paper outlines interim findings from an action research project called 'Not a one-way street', which is part of the Better Life programme. The project focuses on the various ways in which older people with high support needs take up active roles within different support arrangements based on 'mutuality and reciprocity'. This paper explores alternative approaches to planning, funding and providing long term care for older people with high support needs.

Dignity in care [SCIE guide 15]

This guide sets out the findings of the 2005 practice survey, and suggests practice points for care managers, line managers and their managers, and directors of adult social care services, as well as adult placement schemes, to help improve outcomes for people using adult placement services.

SCIE guide 13 : learning, teaching and assessment of law in social work education

This guide focuses on learning, teaching and assessing law in social work education. It is not the purpose of the guide to prescribe law curriculum content. Rather, its purpose is to set out the key choices that those engaged in learning, teaching and assessing law must consider. This is followed by examples of how that learning, teaching and assessment might be enriched, for example through the involvement of experts by experience, or the use of case studies.
