Poor information sharing has been identified as a contributory factor in a number of catastrophic child protection cases.
The aim of this code is to improve practice by giving staff clear guidance on when and how to share information legally and professionally about children at risk of harm.
It is recognised that most workers do share information when required, but the code aims to establish a consistent approach where staff in all organisations and agencies, and across all parts of Scotland, are able to apply a common set of overarching principles and standards. Also included is the letter inviting views on the draft code.
