New grounds of referral: children’s hearings Scotland act 2011 Section 67(2): fact sheet 9

This fact sheet 9 was published by the Youth Justice National Development Team at the Criminal Justice Social Work Development Centre (CJSW). It provides information about section 67 (2) of the Children’s Hearings Scotland Act 2011. The grounds of referral to the Children’s Reporter are found under s67(2) of the new act. There are some similarities with the 1995 Act & 5 new grounds. The wording “close connection” is used throughout and this should be interpreted as a member of the same household or someone with significant contact with the child.

SCIE Report 62: managing the transfer of responsibilities under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards: a resource for local authorities and healthcare commissioners

This report is intended to help people plan for the changes to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, which comes into force from 1 April 2013. It describes the changes to the identity of the supervisory body in health settings and offers guidance on how local authorities, hospitals, primary care trusts (PCTs) and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) can work together to ensure that the rights of vulnerable patients are protected.

SCIE guide 13 : learning, teaching and assessment of law in social work education

This guide focuses on learning, teaching and assessing law in social work education. It is not the purpose of the guide to prescribe law curriculum content. Rather, its purpose is to set out the key choices that those engaged in learning, teaching and assessing law must consider. This briefing on the Health and Social Care Bill has been prepared for the Second Reading debate on the Bill in the House of Commons on 31 January 2011. The Bill is intended to give effect to the reforms requiring primary legislation that were proposed in the NHS White Paper Equity and excellence: Liberating the NHS. This White Paper set out the Government’s aims to reduce central control of the NHS, to engage doctors in the commissioning of health services, and to give patients greater choice. Published in January 2011. Applies to health and social care in England.

Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Act 2003

The Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Act 2003 takes forward the proposals for legislative change incorporated in the final report of the Homelessness Task Force. The Act amends existing homelessness legislation, contained in the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 and the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001. It also makes changes to repossession proceedings for houses let on assured tenancies, as currently set out in the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988.
