Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

This Act of Scottish Parliament provides a right of access to information held by Scottish public authorities; creates exemptions from the duty to disclose information; and establishes the arrangements for enforcement and appeal.

The Act is in seven Parts. Part 1 applies to access to information held by Scottish public authorities; Part 2 looks at exempt information; Part 3 creates the Scottish Information Commissioner; Part 4 sets out measures of enforcement of the Act; Part 5 deals with exemption conditions which apply to historical records; Part 6 details codes of practice and Part 7, miscellaneous and supplemental information.
