Report presenting the findings and recommendations of a study which explored the extent to which information sharing issues were either hampering or facilitating the frontline delivery of Public Service Agreement 16, designed to promote better housing and employment outcomes for socially excluded groups, for adult offenders under probation supervision in England.

Supported accommodation services for offenders: a research literature review (CJSW briefing paper 11)

Paper investigating the relationship between homelessness and offending and describing supported accommodation services provided by Sacro for offenders in Scotland. It also summarises the principal findings from research on the impact of supported accommodation for offenders and highlights issues for practitioners which come out of the research.

Review of section 5 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001

The research examined the use of Section 5 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 and other routes through which local authorities assist statutorily homeless households in securing permanent accommodation from a Registered Social landlord (RSL).

Section 5 gives local authorities the power to require RSLs operating in their area to provide accommodation for homeless households.

The research has been undertaken by Craigforth for the Scottish Government and is to be used by the Government to inform their review of policy and guidance in this area.

Operation of the homeless persons legislation in Scotland: 2007-08

This statistics publication provides information on applications to local authorities for assistance under the homeless persons legislation covering the period to 31 March 2008.

It includes information on the characteristics of applicant households, local authority assessments and the action taken in respect of cases concluded. Snapshot data on households in temporary accommodation at 31 March are presented, together with data on the implementation of the Homeless Persons (Unsuitable Accommodation) (Scotland) Order 2004.
