Citizen Leadership Programme

A series of 12 videos commissioned by SCLD (Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability), EDG (Edinburgh Development Group) , Heartfelt, ARC (Association for Real Change) Scotland on the subject of Citizen Leadership. Each video features a service user or carer talking about their experiences.

Abuse and Disabled Children

This course is a mixture of didactic input and case scenario exercises. It also includes a PowerPoint presentation called 'A Multi Agency Understanding of Child Protection Related to Disability'. The course offers information on the current state of knowledge about the abuse of disabled children and the challenges of their adequate protection. There is then an opportunity for participants to make use of this knowledge using some brief case scenarios. Exercise can last approximately 2.5 hours and is appropriate for groups of 8-25.

Get Going Together : an induction tool for health and social care integrated services

Health Boards and Local Authorities recognise that to improve the joint working performance of the professionals within the services, there is a requirement to develop structures to support joint working including joint funding of services, joint management and joint training. This tool intends to focus on the joint training arrangements and to augment the joint training activities, by developing opportunities for a shared learning within integrated services.

Resource Guide No 2: Involving service users and carers in social work education

This guide focuses on how service users, carers and providers of social work education and training can work together on the degree programmes. It covers the principles, practicalities and range of approaches to building and sustaining these partnerships. The key messages of the guide apply also to developing service users’ and carers’ involvement in all types of training for social work and social care staff and in the design and delivery of services.

Leading from the front

Report looking at options for reforming public services in the UK to make them more effective and responsive. It argues that reform should be based on principles such as a lessening of bureaucracy and over-management, better training for staff and better accountability.
