Moveable Feast

Website of Moveable Feast which is an internationally renowned inclusive drama and training organisation. It harnesses the experiences and strengths of family members and people with learning disabilities to train, consult and present on cutting edge issues.

Moveable Feast has been providing high-profile, person-centred and community based day services for 10 years. It has been commissioned to create and present drama that gets messages across in an informative and enjoyable way, and believes that this is a good way of showing people of all abilities how they can work together.

Adult protection toolkit for domiciliary care agencies

Toolkit that signposts homecare providers to everything they need to write or review policies and procedures for protecting vulnerable adults from harm. It has been designed to equip providers with information on: the nature of abuse, and how it is defined; national guidance on adult protection by all four UK administrations; regulatory requirements on dealing with abuse in domiciliary care; processes for keeping abusers out of the social care workforce; issues surrounding the management of finances, whistleblowing and confidentiality; and training including induction and supervision.

How to assist staff in identifying children at risk of abuse or neglect : training for protection : training activity template

This training activity consists of 20 case scenarios and staff are asked to identify whether or not each scenario constitutes abuse of neglect. They are also asked to consider the needs of children at each developmental stage. These exercises can be done individually initially but require group discussion to explore issues effectively.

North Ayrshire Child Protection Committee Communication Strategy

This Communication Strategy sets out the key strategic objectives of the North Ayrshire Child Protection Committee and how they can be implemented. This will ensure effective communication in all aspects of the work and interests of the Child Protection Committee. It is envisaged that this communication Strategy will operate for 3 –5 years, subject to ongoing review.

Mapping the terrain : 16-19 funding transfer (LGA research report)

In April 2010 the Learning and Skills Council in England will be abolished and responsibility for planning and commissioning education and training for 16–18 year olds will move to local authorities. This report looks at local authorities’ early experiences of the transfer to help inform planning, especially with regard to work- force capacity.

Enriching opportunities: unlocking potential: searching for the keys

The Enriched Opportunities Programme is an intervention developed by the ExtraCare Charitable Trust and Bradford Dementia group that aimed to improve the well-being and activity of people with dementia living in long-term care. The programme included five key elements: specialist expertise; individualised assessment and case work; activity and occupation; staff training; management and leadership. This research evaluates the impact of the intervention on residents and tenants and on the staff caring for them.
