A range of elearning resources developed by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) to assist employers in meeting the expectations of the workforce development and registration agendas for the social services sector. Some are focused on supporting the individual employee to plan and progress their own learning and development, and others are intended for employers to support them in developing the workforce they need now, or may need in the future.

This document concludes the first stage of a serious and systematic attempt to address the deficiencies in the social work information base in Scotland. Senior social work managers, the wider local government community, the Scottish Executive and the Accounts Commission for Scotland have all demonstrated their commitment to working together, through the Social Work Information Review Group, to define a list of information about social work that will meet the needs of all the organisations.

It provides good practice examples of employing people with mental health problems and contains practical tools to help implement organisational change.

Aiming for excellence: a White Paper - modernising social work services in Scotland

This paper sets out the government's proposals for improving the quality of social work services provided, offering better safeguards for those being cared for and strengthening professional standards. Two key proposals of this document: Creation of a new body - the Scottish Social Services Council - which will register the workforce, put in place a code of conduct and standards to support them, raise professional and training standards, and so raise service standards.
