Extending the housing options for older people: focus on extra care (IRISS Insights, No 26)

Evidence review that seeks to explore the evidence base in respect of housing with care and support, in particular extra care provision, and the extent to which the range of models embraced by this term provide an effective alternative to residential and nursing care.

The aim is to offer a greater range of housing options for older people and to promote a continuum of provision between home and care home.

Report that showcases a number of housing with care models that have improved the health and well-being of older people, all of which are in the social sector. It builds on the experiential knowledge of housing staff involved in the running, or the strategic planning of housing with care, to offer insights into some of the issues, challenges, and risks surrounding the development and ongoing management of housing with care that others may learn from.

Scotland's sustainable housing strategy

The Sustainable Housing Strategy sets out the vision for warm, high quality, affordable, low carbon homes and a housing sector that helps to establish a successful low carbon economy across Scotland.

This paper sets out the significant investment and programmes which will help achieve that vision and help to meet the demanding targets for fuel poverty and emission reductions that have been set.

Putting people into personalisation: relational approaches to social care and housing

Paper that argues that 'demand-side' reforms such as Direct Payments do not on their own result in a change of provision in the care and support market. It asks what 'supply-side' reforms might be needed in order to bring real choice - the choice about the shape of their lives - to those newly 'empowered' 'consumers'.
