Service provision for children and young people with complex needs in a community setting from the perspectives of nursing and allied health professionals

Report of a study which examined the nature and provision of care by nurses and allied health professionals to children and young people with complex needs across Scotland.

Information was gathered from workforce development plans and a survey of practitioners to build up a picture of where children and young people receive care, the knowledge and skills required to provide that care and the challenges facing services.

National and regional estimates of the prevalence of opiate use and/or crack cocaine use 2006/07: a summary of key findings

This report summarises the results of the third and final sweep of a study to estimate the prevalence of ‘problem drug use’ (defined as use of opiates and/or crack cocaine) nationally (England only), regionally, and locally. An overview of national and Government Office Region estimates are presented in this report, as are comparisons with the estimates produced by the second (2005/06) sweep of the study.

Growing up in Scotland: use of childcare by parents of young children

Research findings which examine the use of childcare for both the baby and toddler cohorts of the Growing Up in Scotland study (GUS) longitudinal research project, and how cost, type, mix of formal and informal provision, duration and childcare preferences vary according to parents’ socio-economic circumstances.

Differences in attitudes towards employment and childcare are also explored.
