Complex responses: understanding poor frontline responses to adults with multiple needs - a review of the literature and analysis of contributing factors

Report which is the result of a large scoping review of the research literature in an attempt to understand the many and complex reasons behind poor frontline service responses to adults with multiple needs, with a particular focus on those in contact with the criminal justice system.

SCIE guide 35: age equality and age discrimination in social care - an interim practice guide

This interim guide aims to help managers, commissioners, providers and practitioners in all sectors of adult social care to:

* acknowledge and understand the occurrence, risks and effects of age discrimination
* identify key features of an age-equalities approach to social care
* recognise some of the obstacles to achieving age equality and reducing age discrimination
* share information, develop ideas, and implement changes to overcome the obstacles.

Targeted youth support pathfinders evaluation: final report

This report presents the findings from the evaluation of the Targeted Youth Support Pathfinders (TYSPs). The policy was developed by the Department for Children, Schools and Families to ensure that young people in need of support receive a genuinely personalised package of support, at the earliest possible opportunity. The evaluation was designed to capture the impact of the service reforms at the level of infrastructure, professional working practices, individual young people and overall outcomes.

Transforming the quality of dementia care: Consultation on a national dementia strategy

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) is pleased to submit the following response to the Department of Health’s consultation on a national dementia strategy. This submission is structured to answer, in order, the questions set by the consultation paper, Transforming the quality of dementia care: Consultation on a national dementia strategy.

The final section covers some areas not directly mentioned in the paper that the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) thinks warrant the government’s consideration in relation to a national dementia strategy.

Task Centred Casework

This multimedia learning object provides an introduction to the "task-centered" model of social work intervention. This model was based on the work of Sigmund Freud and the psychoanalysts. Psychoanalytic social work emphasised relationship-focused intervention with the professional adopting the role of the 'expert'.

Parental confidence in the special educational needs assessment, statementing and tribunal system : qualitative study (Research report DCSF-RR117)

Report presenting the findings of a study of parental experiences of the special educational needs (SEN) assessment, statementing and Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST) system. The goal was to gain a greater insight into perceived problems with SEN provision and to identify those factors which make the system work well for some parents and not others.
