Alcohol attributable mortality and morbidity : alcohol population attributable fractions for Scotland

Summary of the findings of a study which attempted, for the first time, to calculate alcohol population attributable fractions for Scotland using estimates based on evidence available in the epidemiological literature and specific estimates of population drinking in Scotland. The mortality and morbidity data for 2003 was used to estimate more fully the burden of alcohol related harm in Scotland.

Care and support needs of men who survived childhood sexual abuse

Report of a Scottish qualitative research project with adult male survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The aim is to improve male survivors' wellbeing, through establishing their perspectives on their major care, support and intervention need throughout the lifecourse; and by making and disseminating a report with recommendations, to improve services and preventive action across all sectors.

Report on young offenders in adult establishments

This is a report on an inspection of the conditions in which male and female young offenders are held and the treatment they receive in smaller units within adult establishments in Scotland. The inspection took place in November 2008. The report covers young offenders in Friarton Hall (Perth Prison), Darroch Hall (Green Prison) and Bruce House (Cornton Vale Prison). A number of observations are noted and some recommendations are made for Bruce House.
