Understanding the Early Stages of Dementia

The main focus of this learning object is the early stages of dementia, including the emotional impact of the onset of symptoms and the diagnosis of dementia on the person concerned and those around them. The learning object also considers the importance of community-based support for people with dementia and how social networks can operate in this context. Towards the end of the learning object, you will look at the values and attitudes associated with person-centred care, particularly in relation to caring for and working with people with dementia as their condition progresses.

A Literature Review and Documentary Analysis on Recovery Training in Mental Health Practice

The NES/SRN Mental Health Recovery Project is a joint project between NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Recovery Network. The project is part of the overall implementation of the actions contained in 'Rights, Relationships and Recovery' (Scottish Executive, 2006), the national review of mental health nursing in Scotland. The overall aim of the project is to provide an outline framework for training/education for mental health nurses in relation to recovery and identify next actions for the implementation of this framework.

Mental Health Delivery Plan : Development of Peer Specialist Roles : A Literature Scoping Exercise

The Scottish Recovery Network commissioned the Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health to undertake a scoping exercise on the Development of Peer Specialist Roles in Scotland. This paper reports on two aspects of the project: 1. A literature scoping exercise on existing models of accredited training and peer specialist roles; 2. Telephone interviews with existing peer specialist / peer support projects in Scotland, and the US.

The Bradley report : Lord Bradley's review of people with mental health problems or learning disabilities in the criminal justice system

Report of the Bradley Inquiry into the extent to which offenders with mental health problems or learning disabilities in England could be diverted from prison to other services and the obstacles to such diversion. The report makes recommendations on the organisation of effective court liaison and diversion arrangements and the services required to support them.

Evaluation of inequalities, gender sensitivity and primary care mental health pilot work in south west Glasgow

Report providing an evaluation of pilot work to integrate an understanding of inequalities in general and gender inequality in particular into the developing services of the South-West Community Health and Social Care Partnership. It addresses key questions about the pilot work and offers a baseline for the development of a methodology for further evaluations of inequality and gender sensitive practice in mental health service provision.
