In April 1997 the Social Services Inspectorate undertook an inspection of the child protection services in Cambridgeshire's Social Services Department. This inspection took place at the request of the Parliamentary Under Secretary in the Department of Health following the non-accidental death of Rikki Neave, a child on Cambridgeshire's child protection register. The 1997 inspection identified serious deficiencies in the standard of child protection services in Cambridgeshire.
This report describes the findings and conclusions of an inter-disciplinary review of social work and health services in Scotland to support vulnerable families with young children aged 0-3 years. It also takes account of other important services such as early education and childcare, housing, health services for adults and Children’s Hearings.
This is the second annual report of the Perth and Kinross Child Protection Committee (CPC) and it sets out the wide range of work which has been undertaken by partner agencies in the past year to evaluate, strengthen and develop services to protect children and young people in Perth and Kinross. Significant achievements include wide ranging campaigns and initiatives to raise awareness about child protection and what to do if you have concerns about the safety of a child.
The national care standards for adoption agencies have been developed to ensure that the services they provide are of high quality. They provide comprehensive guidance on the expected duty of care and service that adoption agencies should provide throughout the adoption process.
This is the second report submitted to the Scottish Executive in line with the Guidance for Child Protection Committees published in January 2005. It is a review of key policy and work over the past year.
These guidelines are a revision of 'Drug Misuse and Dependence: Guidelines on Clinical Management' published in 1991. A comprehensive set of guidance is provided for doctors in the assessment, treatment and management of drug users and drug misuse.
The inspection of South Ayrshire social work services took place between November 2008 and March 2009. Our inspection team consisted of SWIA inspectors, an associate inspector, a carer inspector and sessional inspectors. The directorate of children and community delivered good outcomes for many people who used its services. Those people who used services that responded to our survey and that we met during the inspection were satisfied with the help they received and the way they were treated.
