Getting it right together : an educational resource on the needs of people with a learning disability in the healthcare environment

This resource - Getting it right together on learning disabilities, has been written for all pre-registration nursing students in Scotland. It comprises five units of study that will support something in the order of 12 to 15 hours of directed and, or, facilitated learning on a range of issues that relate to learning disabilities. This document includes all five units, as well as introductory information, narratives and a list of resources. Each unit is also held individually in the Learning Exchange.

Protecting children: a shared responsibility - guidance for health professionals in Scotland (September 1999)

This document specifically aims to provide user-friendly information for all health professionals in Scotland. It will be valuable to those who may very rarely come into contact with an abused child or children and their families. It is also an important source of advice for staff who have had more experience in this area and highlights the need for child protection training to be made available for all staff.

Statutory guidance on promoting the health and well-being of looked after children

Document giving guidance to local authorities and their health agency partners in England on carrying out their functions in regard to the promotion of co-operation to improve the well-being of children and young people and the making of arrangements to ensure they take account of the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children when discharging their duties.
