Guidance to local authorities on fuel poverty

The Scottish Government is committed to the target that by 2016, as far as is reasonably practicable, no-one in Scotland is living in fuel poverty. This is a key priority for Scottish Ministers. Councils can make an important contribution to the achievement of this target.

Through both their leadership and strategic role and their wealth of local knowledge and local action they have a significant part to play in ensuring that people live in warm dry homes which they can afford to heat.

Article that explores change in population age structure at the Local Authority (LA) level for the whole of the UK between 1997 and 2017, focusing on change in the older population.

It includes case studies exploring the changes in age structure in the three local authorities of Brighton and Hove, Tower Hamlets and Coleraine.

Public Understanding, Expectations and Views about Child Protection in Scotland

The Child Protection Review Team of the Scottish Executive Department commissioned MORI Scotland to conduct a programme of research. The overall aim of this research was to assess levels of public knowledge and understanding of the current child protection processes and within this, look at expectations that the public have about the role of the individual, community and public agency in child protection and the degree to which each should take responsibility or become involved.

This is the fourth of four volumes of comprehensive guidance on the Children (Scotland) Act 1995. The Regulations, Directions and Guidance which are included in this and the other volumes are designed to provide guidance on the implementation of Parts II, III and IV of the Act. Volume 4 contains a bibliography of relevant legislation and circulars; references relevant to the Children (Scotland) Act 1995 as a whole; and references which relate to individual parts of the Regulations and Guidance.
