Threat assessment of child sexual exploitation and abuse

Assessment which represents the most up-to-date understanding of the current level of threat posed by child sexual exploitation and abuse. It takes into account information received by CEOP from industry, the public and law enforcement. This engagement with partners allows for current threats to be outlined and for the identification of areas in need of greater understanding.

Thematic assessment that explores the risk of contact child sexual offending posed by those who possess still and moving indecent images of children (‘IIOC’)

It looks at the ways in which this risk is managed by the police service and others involved in child protection and the criminal justice process.

Towards safer organisations II: using the perspectives of convicted sex offenders to inform organisational safeguarding of children

Research that presents the findings of research undertaken by an NSPCC Research Team from 2008–2010 with 27 adults convicted of sexual offences against children committed whilst in organisational positions of trust.

The primary aims of the research was to identify organisational risk factors and the way in which convicted sex offenders accessed organisations, in order to propose good practice in recruitment and within work settings with children and young people so that they can be better safeguarded against abuse and exploitation.

Offering hope for abused children

Safe Horizon and the Childhood Violent Trauma Center at Yale Child Study Center joined forces to address the needs of children traumatised by abuse. Working together, the two institutions adapted and implemented a brief, evidence‐based intervention for traumatised children developed by the Childhood Violent Trauma Center at the Yale Child Study Center for implementation at four Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) in New York City.
