This booklet is a summary of the Churches' Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS) web-based guidance, 'Safe and secure - the manual'.

The manual covers the needs of children and vulnerable adults in places of worship and other organisations.

The booklet covers CCPAS ten safeguarding standards which include that organisations should adopt a formal, working safeguarding policy and that organisations must develop safeguarding awareness and provide training. It concludes with a list of CCPAS membership benefits.

'Getting it right for everyone': conference report

Report of the proceedings of the 'Getting it right for everyone' conference held in Perth on 13th November 2007. The conference was concerned with improving the ability of those working in community planning to engage with people with learning disabilities and raising awareness of the issues facing people with learning disabilities in respect of planning the future of local communities.

The safe use of new technologies

Report based on evidence from a small-scale survey carried out between April and July 2009 in 35 maintained schools in England. It evaluates the extent to which the schools taught pupils to adopt safe and responsible practices in using new technologies, and how they achieved this. It also assesses the extent and quality of the training the schools provided for their staff. It responds to the report of the Byron Review, Safer children in a digital world.

One of a series of six transforming community service best practice guides for frontline staff and their leaders which aims to help to deliver High Quality Care for all: the Next Sate Review. Each guide has a similar framework, clearly setting out ambitions, taking action to deliver, using best available evidence and demonstrating and measuring achievement. The guides also highlight what is considered to be good practice across community services.

The Children's hearing system in Scotland 2002: training resource manual

In 1996 the Scottish Office commissioned a complete revision of the existing guidance manual for Children's Panel members in order to bring it up to date, in particular for the new legislation. The Children (Scotland) Act 1995 was implemented in April 1997 and the Human Rights Act 1998 has since been introduced. Experience of working with the new legislation has brought about best practice guidelines.
