Paper based on a swift consultation and actionplanning exercise with a group of RR3 representatives and additional stakeholders co-opted for their expertise and strategic overview of women in the CJS.

The group took a dynamic approach to the task by analysing the key routes of girls and women into and out of the CJS and considering how to stem the flow in a more gender-responsive way.

Low-income neighbourhoods in Britain: the gap between policy ideas and residents' realities: executive summary

Summary that examines the relationship between ‘poverty’ and ‘place’ in six low-income areas, drawing on residents’ accounts to explain different patterns of neighbourhood change.

It is based on the findings of a four-year research study, which has captured how communities’ distinctive socio-cultural and historical features impact on people’s experiences and perceptions, and on a report that highlights the implications these have for current policy agendas.

Transforming social care: sustaining person-centred support

This is a summary of the study. This study is the most user-centred and authoritative commentary to date on current policies and practice. The Standards We Expect project team (service users, practitioners and researchers) worked with service users, carers, front-line practitioners and managers in eight very diverse settings. Research findings published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation in May 2011.

Children and gangs

Targeted study undertaken by Qa Research (Qa) on behalf of Children & Young People Now magazine.

The resulting report examines the experiences of young people who are gang-affiliated or who have witnessed street gang activity. The views of professionals who support young people associated with gangs are also presented.
