Transition to adulthood for young people in adoptive care: secondary analyses of data from the longitudinal study of young people in England (LSYPE)

The main aim of the study was to use the first six waves of data from the LSPYE to understand more about the lives of adopted young people as they approach adulthood and to make comparisons with other young people who had not experienced adoptive care.

Objectives include:
- To explore the characteristics of the adopted families and their attitudes and involvement in the lives of the adopted young people
- To understand more about behavioural adjustment of young people as they approach adulthood
- To assess the overall wellbeing and aspirations of adopted young people
- To assess the readiness for independence of adoptees in terms of education and employment.
