It is vital to tackle discrimination and inequality of access for people with learning disabilities so that this population has comparable access to health initiatives and services used by non-disabled people.
The purpose of this guidance is to describe and clarify good practice in health facilitation and health action planning and support localities to make progress on this and on reducing health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities. It builds on previous DH guidance and reflects the learning that has taken place since 2002 along with key recommendations of relevant recent reports and research. Short examples of good practice are included throughout.
This publication describes the new standards for school care accommodation services which have been developed from the point of view of children or young people who use the services.
The standards are grouped under headings that follow the child or young person's journey through the service.
Scottish Government report on what needs to be in place to provide a truly child-centred response and approach to the provision of foster and kinship care.
It then considers what improvements are needed in the support provided to carers that will in turn enhance the quality of care provided to children.
Finally, it addresses the improvements that can be made to the quality assurance systems that govern these types of care.
