The position of Scotland's equality groups: revisiting resilience in 2011

Study that seeks to offer discussion and analysis to inform an understanding of how well positioned people in Scotland with equalities characteristics are to access the benefits of economic recovery.

This study accompanies the publication of the Scottish Government’s Scottish Spending Review 2011 and Draft Budget 2012/2013 and Equality Statement: Scottish Spending Review and Draft Budget 2012-13, and helps demonstrate the Scottish Government’s commitment to better understanding the equalities impacts of its decisions.

Signposts: see me, hear me, talk to me - talk to my family as well

Short paper that aims to share evidence based practice, promote local discussion and encourage improved outcomes. It does not seek to amend or replace existing statutory guidance that may be in place.

It offers some signposts to effective practice, local conversations and partnership working with a focus on improved outcomes for young carers and their families. These can be shared and taken forward locally in line with local needs and circumstances.

Targeted youth support : rapid evidence assessment of effective early interventions for youth at risk of future poor outcomes

Targeted Youth Support (TYS) is an initiative aimed at vulnerable young people and involves ensuring that agencies work together to meet young people’s needs. This report was commissioned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to explore what works for young people in relation to the outcomes prioritised by the TYS initiative.

Accountability and children’s outcomes in high-performing education systems: analytical maps of approaches to measuring children’s education, health and well-being outcomes in high-performing educational systems

Interaction between behaviour and speech and language difficulties : does intervention for one affect outcomes in the other?

The aim of the review was to identify research which investigated the relationship between speech, language and communication difficulties (SLCD) and emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) in children of primary school age (5–12 years) as both are common causes of concern for parents and teachers of young children. It was also to identify research which investigated whether intervening within one domain had the potential to influence outcomes in the other. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2009.

SCIE knowledge review 13 : outcomes-focused services for older people

This knowledge review includes a review of research evidence on the outcomes valued by older people and a practice survey that aims to identify the factors that facilitate and inhibit achieving desired outcomes. It also contains a postal survey of localities and social services managers in England and Wales known to be interested in developing outcomes-focused approaches to older people's services; and in-depth studies in six localities.
