Storyworks gathers and presents personal stories around a range of topics. It works with artists, health professionals, researchers, charities, patients, and theatre companies. Its projects have taken them around the world; from living rooms and hospital wards to music festivals and prison cells.

Intersecting childhood identities, inequalities and rights: unpacking concepts and exploring implications

The first in a series of four seminars. It introduced the concept of intersectionality and debates its meanings and purposes for understanding childhood identities and inequalities. It explored the different ways in which this framework can be put into practice by practitioners and policy makers. The seminar involved a combination of short presentations, group discussions and a plenary conversation and addressed the following questions:

The road from crime

Video story of Alan Weaver, a former prisoner who successfully desisted from criminal behaviour. It was produced as part of a project to share knowledge and improve understanding about why people desist from offending.

I Am Breathing

Documentary film examining a man's remarkable journey from being a healthy 30-something British man to becoming completely paralysed from the neck down, due to a devastating illness known as ALS, MND or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Neil's blog posts form the film's narration as he tells his own story through memories and impressions of his life - the sheer joy of falling in love, of partying with his mates, of fast motorbike rides. Through his determination to share his final journey, he makes us ask questions about our own lives.
