National programme for improving mental health and well-being: small research projects initiative 2005-06 - Mellow Babies

The Mellow Babies intervention was designed to develop close attunement between the mother and the child using a combination of baby-massage, interaction coaching and infant focused speech.

A waiting-list-controlled evaluation of the Mellow Babies intervention is described.

The objectives were to measure change in maternal depressive symptoms and the quality of interaction between mothers and babies. Recruitment was less than had been hoped, but for those mothers who completed the group, feedback from referrers and participants was positive.

Learning together to safeguard children : developing a multi-agency systems approach for case reviews

Stolen futures: trafficking for forced child marriage in the UK

ECPAT UK (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes) has found that children are being trafficked out of and into the United Kingdom for forced marriage. in the UK forced marriage is recognised as a human rights abuse and a form of domestic violence. If a child is forced into marriage then it can be considered child abuse.

It then makes five key recommendations. An executive summary gives the background and outlines the broad structure of the report. Sections then put the inquiry into context, examine its recommendations theme by theme, and describe its recommendations on police culture, procedures and training.
