Talking Points: personal outcomes approach - practical guide

Guide developed by the Joint Improvement Team to support the continued implementation of the Talking Points: Personal Outcomes Approach. While the Talking Points approach was developed primarily with reference to health and social care, it is increasingly evident that many of the principles and practice issues are relevant to outcomes based working across service sectors. The guide draws together evidence from research and practice and presents an overview of the key messages and learning from that work.

The adult social care outcomes framework 2013/14

The Care and Support White Paper published in July 2012, set out the government’s vision for a reformed care and support system, building on the 2010 Vision for Adult Social Care and framework for transparency and quality in adult social care. The ASCOF for 2013/14 will support councils to rise to the challenge of delivering key White Paper priorities by providing a clear focus for local priority setting and improvement, and by strengthening the accountability of councils to local people.

National risk framework to support the assessment of children and young people

Guidance that aims to support and assist practitioners at all levels in every agency, to be able to approach the task of risk identification, assessment, analysis and management with more confidence and competence.

It seeks to provide tools that, if used, support methodical and systematic approaches to not only better understanding risk and its presentation with children and families, but also enhance interventions and potential outcomes.

Social and emotional wellbeing: early years (NICE public health guidance 40)

Guidance that aims to define how the social and emotional wellbeing of vulnerable children aged under 5 years can be supported through home visiting, childcare and early education. The recommendations cover: - strategy, commissioning and review - identifying vulnerable children and assessing their needs - ante- and postnatal home visiting for vulnerable children and their families - early education and childcare - delivering services
