The group of people that concerns this report include those with severe and complex needs, with sensory impairments or who have a autistic spectrum disorder.

Viewpoint that reviews some aspects of disability policy since the early 1990s before making a detailed assessment of the current polices being introduced by the Coalition Government.

Company initiatives for workers with care responsibilities for disabled children or adults

Report that presents the results of Eurofound’s work on company initiatives for workers with care responsibilities for disabled children or adults.

The research focused on initiatives that employers can take to support the needs of workers who have (informal) care responsibilities, including parents caring for children with disabilities and carers of adults who need care because of disability, illness or old age.

Disability-related harassment: the role of public bodies - a qualitative research report

Research designed to provide detailed information about disabled people’s experiences and views of disability-related harassment and their perceptions of the role of public bodies.

It was based on focus groups and in-depth interviews with a total of 87 disabled people, recruited on the basis of having experienced disability related harassment in the previous three years.

Out from the shadows: sexual violence against children with disabilities

Report that sheds light on children with disabilities who are suffering from sexual violence - abuse that goes unacknowledged, both by communities and by the state; is shrouded in taboos; and is rarely discussed or investigated. The report seeks to address this and make the issue more visible, as well as challenge governments and communities, including the international community, to tackle it head on.

Evaluation of the impact of Action for Children short break services on outcomes for children: final report

Report that examines the findings of a study commissioned by Action for Children to explore the impact that their short break services have on disabled children and their families. The study began in August 2010 and an interim report was published in September 2010 (Holmes, McDermid, Soper and Lawson, 2010).

It aims to explore the impact of Action for Children short breaks services on disabled children and their families within this context and seeks to provide an evidence base for the future provision of Action for Children services to disabled children and their families.

Prevention and response to identity-based bullying among local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales

This project was commissioned by the Equality and Human Rights Commission in December 2009 with the aim of providing an insight into identity-based bullying of young people in schools and in the wider community, and examining the preventative and responsive strategies currently being used to address it in local authorities across England, Scotland and Wales.
