The Beveridge vision - OpenLearn

This resource is one of the units on the Open University's OpenLearn website, which provides free and open educational resources for learners and educators around the world. This Unit looks at the work of William Beveridge in reforming the field of social welfare after World War II. Particular attention is paid to the attitude towards women and immigrants to the United Kingdom.

Education (Disability Strategies and Pupils' Educational Records) (Scotland) Act 2002

This Act will require education authorities, proprietors of independent schools, managers of grant-aided schools and boards of management of self-governing schools to prepare accessibility strategies to improve access to education for pupils with disabilities; require those authorities and proprietors or managers to review and implement these strategies; and empower the Scottish Ministers to make regulations in relation to the keeping, transferring and disclosure of pupils' educational records.

Risk assessment in criminal justice : politics and practice in Scotland

Dr. Monica Barry recently undertook an international review of effective approaches to risk assessment in social work in the light of the recommendations from the Changing Lives report. This seminar is based on that review and whilst it briefly explores commonalities and differences across various areas of practice in social work, it focuses predominantly on criminal justice and the implications for policy and practice of the drive towards multi-agency partnerships and a common approach to risk assessment and management of offenders in Scotland.
