Care Skillsbase website

This website provides specially designed tools to help social care workers. The tools are quick, easy to use, and do not require any specialist skills expertise. All social care staff use information and communicate in their jobs. To do this they need: speaking and listening skills; reading and writing skills; number skills. Care Skillsbase helps managers in the care sector take constructive action on communication & number skills.

This resource provides information, statistics and research on drugs misuse in Scotland. Target users are policy makers, professionals, researchers, employers and the wider community. This website supports the implementation of the Scottish Drug Misuse Information Strategy.

Disabled Parents Network

Disabled Parents Network (DPN) is a national organisation of and for disabled people who are parents or who hope to become parents, and their families, friends and supporters. DPN provides information, advice and peer support to disabled parents, their families and supporters.

Employment Outcomes for Youth Aging Out of Foster Care

This report was produced in 2002 by the Chapin Hall Center for Children, based at the University of Chicago. It provides data on patterns of employment and the levels of earnings of youths leaving foster care in the year they become eighteen. The study was concentrated on youth from Carolina and Illinois. Comparisons are made with other youths of similar age from low income families and with those who are reunited with their parents before they are eighteen.

OU on the BBC: A Picture of Health

A Picture of Health is a sixty minute documentary on a day in the life of the National Health Service. On Wednesday November 13th 2002, nine NHS workers were followed for the day by nine film crews. The film starts in the morning and ends very late at night, cutting between different stories. The aim is to see what our NHS is really like – by seeing it through the eyes of those working for it. This resource is part of Open2.net which is the online learning portal from the Open University and the BBC.
