Interaction between behaviour and speech and language difficulties : does intervention for one affect outcomes in the other?

The aim of the review was to identify research which investigated the relationship between speech, language and communication difficulties (SLCD) and emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) in children of primary school age (5–12 years) as both are common causes of concern for parents and teachers of young children. It was also to identify research which investigated whether intervening within one domain had the potential to influence outcomes in the other. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2009. Systematic reviews aim to find as much as possible of the research relevant to the particular research questions, and use explicit methods to identify what can reliably be said on the basis of these studies.
