Early years, life chances and equality: a literature review

Reviews recent literature on how early years experiences may impact on life chances for different groups of the population. Life chances can cover a range of opportunities that people can experience as they become adults and into their later life. These opportunities include, for example, the likelihood of being in employment over individuals’ lifetimes, the chances of obtaining educational qualifications and the chances of good physical and mental health.

Recognising complexity: commissioning guidance for personality disorder services

Practice guidance for commissioners in the NHS, criminal justice system, local authorities and others, to help them improve outcomes for people with personality disorders.

The guidance provides information and suggestions on best practice drawn from pilot services and from service users, and is organised into four sections which provide information on: an overview of the broad context; key areas for effective commissioning; commissioning dedicated personality disorder services; and commissioning for groups with particular needs.

It examined differences between children who experienced the death of a parent or sibling and those who experienced the death of a friend.

Mental health payment by results is a funding methodology which aims to predict mental health need and cost more accurately. The methodology involves identifying service users with similar characteristics (they are to be grouped into 21 "clusters") and will be allocated to groups using an assessment tool.
