Systematic map of the research on the relationship between obesity and sedentary behaviour in young people

The systematic map aimed to review the scope of the quantitative research literature on the relationship between obesity and sedentary behaviour in young people aged 6-16. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2009. Systematic reviews aim to find as much as possible of the research relevant to the particular research questions, and use explicit methods to identify what can reliably be said on the basis of these studies.

Incentives to improve smoking, physical activity, dietary and weight management behaviours : a scoping review of the research evidence

The EPPI-Centre carried out a scoping review to provide an overview of the current international research literature that evaluates the effectiveness of incentives to address health behaviours related to smoking, healthy eating, physical activity, obesity and weight management. This review looks at the evidence base for improving the wellbeing of disabled children and young people through improving access to positive and inclusive activities. It assess where gaps in the evidence base occur and suggests where future research and development may need to take place.

Weighing in : dealing with the challenge of obesity (Policy Exchange research notes)

Paper describing and discussing ten examples of interventions for obesity which involve both healthy eating and physical activity. The examples featured all strive to be low cost interventions and fall in to the broad categories of community schemes, active travel initiatives, health in the workplace and lifestyle incentives.
