Innovation: living together

Fim that highlights two innovative approaches to meeting people's accommodation needs.

The first is an example of ‘Shared Lives', a service provided by individuals and families in local communities who offer accommodation and support in their family home to people who are unable to live independently.

The second is ‘Home Share', a simple way of helping people to help each other. The film shows two people with different sets of needs, both of whom also have something to offer each other.

Elearning : sexual, reproductive and mental health

This learning activity is a Social Care Institute for Excellence SCIE e-learning resource. These resources have been developed for you, a busy mental health professional, as an easy-to-use guide to key aspects of sexual and reproductive health in the context of mental illness, with clear sign-posting for those of you who want to take this subject further. Resource published in 2011.

Stroke4carers [stroke carer training]

The website was published by Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland. The project has been developed with the National Advisory Committee for Stroke, University of Edinburgh and funded by Big Lottery Fund Scotland. The site is for carers, family and friends of anyone affected by stroke illness. This e-learning resource provides a set of topics which which will provide on-line advice, support and information for informal carers. There are a range of topics including information about stroke, practical advice for carers, advice about finance and legal issues, support for carers and carers rights

Engage for Education

Online public participation project to enable people across Scotland’s education community to engage directly with the Scottish Government about the issues important to them.

As well as offering the exclusive chance to read and comment on Ministerial blogs and a range of guest opinions, the site plays host to interactive workshops for a wide audience including parents, teachers, learners of all ages and educational professionals.

Improving access to social care for adults with autism

Guide that looks at how social care services can improve access to adults with autism.

It is based on research that explores the barriers to services experienced by people with autism. It covers people with autism, whether or not they also have a learning disability.

The guide suggests ways services can improve, identifying how best to meet the goals of the government's autism strategy.
