Aiming High for Young People

In 2007 the Government launched a 10-year plan for young people. Its full title was ‘Aiming High for Young People: A Ten Year Strategy for Positive Activities’. This document outlines the commitments made within the plan and how the Government plans to implement these. It includes contact information so that young people can get involved and give their opinions.

Getting it right for children and young people who present a risk of serious harm: Meeting Need, Managing Risk and Achieving Outcomes

Scottish Government publication to help agencies and professionals working with young people who present a risk of serious harm to themselves and others, to strengthen their procedures and strive for excellence. It is a working document expected to grow and develop as new research is published, agencies use the self-assessment tool and provide feedback on its effectiveness, the Social Work Inspection Agency introduces its self-assessment toolkit, and 'Getting it right for every child' drives change in children’s services.

Towards a mentally flourishing Scotland: policy and action plan 2009-2011

Policy document that sets out the Scottish Government's action plan for building on existing work to improve mental wellbeing in Scotland up until 2011 by identifying strategic priorities for action and putting in place the infrastructure support and coordination necessary to facilitate implementation and support delivery. The government is committed making sure adequate services are in plance and to working through social policy and health improvement activity to reduce the burden of mental health problems and mental illness and to promote good mental wellbeing.

Getting it right for every child: draft Children's Services (Scotland) Bill consultation

Scottish Executive consultation on a draft Bill intended to support the implementation of Getting it right for every child, the reform programme for children's services.

The bill would place duties on agencies to promote the well-being of children and to work together. Also included in the bill are measures to ensure that the views of children are taken into account. Grounds for referral to the Children's Hearings system would also change if the bill were passed as legislation.
