"We help create practice learning opportunities for social work students" - Revisiting ‘new approaches to practice learning’. Sustaining practice learning 2

This is one of a series of four ‘Sustaining Practice Learning’ reports commissioned by the Learning Resource Network on behalf of Skills for Care and the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC). This research revisited fourteen projects that were first studied in 2006 as examples of innovative approaches to practice learning.

Eight of the projects responded to research. Six of the projects were self-sustaining, on head transformed itself to survive and one had failed to sustain itself. Findings are discussed in terms of factors helping to sustain the projects, factors hindering the projects, the impact of the projects, and aspects of the projects that generated the most pride. Recommendations are presented for others beginning practice learning projects.
