Inquiry into human trafficking in Scotland

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has the power under section 16 of the Equality Act 2006 to undertake inquiries into matters relating to its duties on equality, relations between groups in society, and human rights.

The Commission decided to undertake an inquiry into human trafficking in Scotland, as it regards trafficking in human beings as inseparable from inequality, and as one of the most severe human rights abuses in the modern world.
