These guidelines are a revision of 'Drug Misuse and Dependence: Guidelines on Clinical Management' published in 1991. A comprehensive set of guidance is provided for doctors in the assessment, treatment and management of drug users and drug misuse. This includes a study of the extent of drug misuse and morbidity; the rights of drug dependents; risk reduction; review of medical histories; drug dependence; training clinicians working with drug misusers; shared working with other professionals; prescriptions; withdrawal; dose reduction regimens; preventing relapse; drug interaction; pregnancy; disease; mental health and drug misuse amongst young people.
