The African Caribbean community and mental health in Britain

Mind is a leading mental health charity in England and Wales and has produced information on many areas of mental health. This factsheet aims to give an overview of how the mental health needs of the African-Caribbean community are negatively affected by many factors, including racism. It highlights examples of racism within the psychiatric system and how it exacerbates mental distress. It is also intended to help raise awareness of the discrimination and the disadvantage experienced by African-Caribbean people. It is targeted at students, mental health professionals, carers and users of mental health services.
