Storytelling in youth work: a resource for workers, managers, tutors and students

Resource that brings together some of the learning from In Defence of Youth Work’s (IDYW) approach to youth work story-telling as this has evolved over the past three-years.

From both the participant's and the facilitator's points of view, it considers how examples of practice have been narrated and analysed in workshops specifically designed for workers (including young volunteers), managers, students and their tutors.

Storyworks

Storyworks gathers and presents personal stories around a range of topics. It works with artists, health professionals, researchers, charities, patients, and theatre companies. Its projects have taken them around the world; from living rooms and hospital wards to music festivals and prison cells.

Writing narrative action evaluation reports in health promotion: manual of guidelines, resources, case studies and QuickGuide

Manual that has been developed to assist community and women's health agencies in building their capacity to evaluate health promotion programs and practice using an approach that incorporates narrative evaluation and action research methodologies.

It has been produced through the collaborative work of the Narrative Evaluation Action Research (NEAR) pilot project team based in Melbourne, Australia.

Listen, learn, act: harnessing the power of personal stories to drive service improvement

Guidance that: outlines the benefits of person-centred story-gathering; explores the skills required to gather personal stories; considers legal and ethical issues associated with NHS story-gathering; highlights the principles of good governance that must underpin such work; shares best practice; supports staff to ensure that the information shared by patients, their carers and colleagues; and produces positive results, both for the service and for the individuals involved.

Story sharing guidance: a guide to inform the process of sharing personal experiences related to mental health and recovery

Guide that aims to support and inform those wishing to assist others to share a personal narrative, as well as providing guidance for those considering sharing their own personal narrative.

It does not attempt to address issues raised by the therapeutic uses of storytelling.
