The aim of this learning object is to introduce learners to a structured approach to the assessment and promotion of resilience in vulnerable children.

Systematic reviews of interventions following physical abuse: helping practitioners and expert witnesses improve the outcomes of child abuse

This briefing summarises the results of systematic reviews to investigate whether effective interventions exist for children and families where a child has experienced physical abuse. It focuses on secondary prevention of adverse child outcomes and recurrence of abuse in children who have experienced maltreatment. The interventions are grouped into: child focused; parent focused; and family focused. Implications for practice, policy and research are discussed.

This is a summary guide to the main report which aims to provide guidance in the provision of effective support services for young people affected by drug misuse.

This consultation exercise was conducted as part of the wider Child Protection Review. It was undertaken in 2001/2002 and comprised of a questionnaire circulated to a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector agencies involved with and concerned about matters relating to child protection; and a web site that was available for members of the general public to record their views and comments on, about matters relating to child protection.
