Retelling the past using new technologies: a case Study into the digitization of social work heritage material and the creation of a virtual exhibition

Article explains the rationale for the digitization of social work heritage material and the virtualization of an archived nondigital museum exhibit constructed by a Scottish Museum of Social Work.

The project involved the “virtualization” of an existing social work museum exhibition on the migration of “Home Children” from Scotland to Canada in the late 19th and early 20th century and the digital preservation of historical assets (both text and images) held by the contemporary social care organization involved in the migration of the children.

A Best Practice Guide to Partnering with Resource Families

In the fall of 2007, the North Carolina Division of Social Services launched a resource parent recruitment and retention project based on the strategies recommended by best practice and research.

Parenting in ordinary families : Diversity, complexity and change in parenting

This study examined parenting during early and middle childhood within different social and cultural groups in Britain, using a ‘parenting score’ derived from different measurements of parents’ relationships with their children. The study was based on parents’ reports of attitudes, feelings and behaviour recorded in response to specific questions relating to parenting. The study also assessed changes in parenting across time.

The Lilias Graham Trust

The Lilias Graham Trust is a charity which provides a unique Residential Support and Assessment Service for families with children. It helps parents understand their children's needs and enable them to meet those needs. Attachment-based play therapy is closely aligned with intensive support and experiential learning for parents in day-to-day parenting and nurturing tasks with their children. Elective home education: guidelines for local authorities

These government guidelines have been prepared to help local authorities carry out their statutory responsibilities and manage their relationships with home educating parents. Where parents have chosen to home educate, it is important that home educated child to have a positive experience. These guidelines aim to clarify the balance between the right of the parent to educate their child at home and the responsibilities of the local authority. ‘Parents’ should be taken to include all those with parental responsibility, including guardians and carers.
