Report of a study which assessed the role of respite care for various groups including children with complex needs, adults with learning disabilities, multiple sclerosis and schizophrenia sufferers and frail elderly people. It also identified the most appropriate outcome measures for use with these groups in the evaluation of respite care.
This report explores the changing lives of older people and shows how resources are used to manage change and maintain stability. An ageing population continues to be of policy concern, in relation to meeting the needs of older people now, and for future welfare provision. This research explores how older people plan, use and value the different resources available to them. Resources are broadly defined, to explore the relative value of different structural, social and individual resources and how they interlink.
Report of a study which examined a sample of eight users perceptions of the effectiveness of Sacro's supported accommodation service in Glasgow. It was found that the service was seen as contributing to a reduction in re-offending and enhanced community safety and served as a stepping stone for offenders to independent living.
Through a scenario this resource enables the user to explore the potential barriers to communication that can exist in their everyday work. This resource will allow the understanding of how the following factors that can inhibit, interrupt or confuse the communication between social workers and service users, carers and others: time available; territory (environment and context); role and task; professional identity and use of self.

This paper was designed to draw on the views and experiences of survivors particularly and it was acknowledged from the start that more innovative methods were needed to ensure that this happened. A number of events were held with survivors and survivor organisations to raise their awareness of the consultation and engage them in discussions.
Group and individual interviews were also carried out with survivors, facilitated by survivor organisations.
This is an evaluation report of the Boarding Provision for Vulnerable Children Pathfinder announced in the white paper 'Higher standards, better schools for all' (2005). The Pathfinder was intended to explore whether boarding school provision might be used to provide support, stability and improved life chances for a larger number of vulnerable children and young people. Ten local authorities and fifty boarding schools originally signed up to the Pathfinder.
