SCIE report 13: systematic searching on the AgeInfo database

This report presents the results of an evaluation of the AgeInfo database, which is an information service provided by the Centre for Policy on Ageing (www.cpa.org.uk) and which is made available to the public at not cost through SCIE's own database Social Care Online (www.scie-socialcareonline.org.uk This report is intended for use by SCIE and the Centre for Policy on Ageing, and may also be useful to users of the AgeInfo database, such as researchers conducting systematic reviews.

Report of a study which attempted to improve understanding of the role of post-industrial decline on the health of Scotland through making comparisons between Scotland and other areas of Europe which have experienced a similar process of industrialisation and de-industrialisation.

Informed Consent in Social Research: A Literature Review

This paper comprises a literature review outlining the current issues and debates relating to informed consent in social research. Focuses primarily on consent in relation to qualitative research comprising ‘traditional’ methods of data collection, such as interviews and observation. It does not does not engage with the many complex ethical issues relating to research using visual methods and new digital technologies nor does it engage with the issues of consent in relation to quantitative research both of which, while important, are beyond the scope of this paper.

United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child 2008 concluding observations : report of a national consultation with young people to determine their priorities for action

Report setting out the findings of a consultation exercise in which the views of young people from all over Scotland were canvassed on the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child's concluding observations to find out how aware children and young people were about children's rights and which rights were most important to them.
