Document offering practical advice and information to help NHS organisations meet their responsibilities with regard to sexual orientation and employment or health care delivery.
This paper was written in response to the Hearts and Minds Agenda Group recommendation that research is conducted into the experiences of children of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) parents. This paper presents a review of the findings from eight papers identified by experts in the field and an internal literature search. It should be noted that these identified papers were predominantly focused on lesbian and gay parenting and not on parents identifying as bisexual or transgender.
This draft report summarises the key findings of a National Research Study conducted by the Advocacy Safeguards Agency. The study looked at why children and young people need advocacy, the laws relating to children and advocacy and the views young people hold about advocacy including what they would look for in an advocate. The report also identifies types of advocacy, barriers and enablers to advocacy, and examines the issues raised by adults interviewed about advocacy.
This factsheet examines the link in people’s minds between homosexuality and AIDS. It is so firmly established that discrimination against people with HIV is inseparable from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
This factsheet discusses the HIV-related stigma and discrimination that sex workers face. They are marginalised and stigmatised because of their work and the fact that prostitution is still criminalised. Many sex workers are further marginalised because of their race or their sexuality, drug taking behaviour and poverty. All these factors increase stigmatisation experienced by sex workers and make them extremely vulnerable to HIV infection.
