homeless people
Research that aimed to investigate the nature and extent of youth homelessness in England, and specifically to find out:
Report that looks at the close link between homelessness and re-offending and how homelessness increases the chances of re-offending.
Paper that summarises findings from four projects examining the interaction between homelessness and other support needs.
It also looks at services for people with complex needs and suggests ways that policy and practice can more effectively tackle homelessness.
Guide that provides an introduction to housing rights for lesbian, gay and bisexual people. It provides information about renting accommodation, people's rights as a tenant and what to do if at risk of becoming homeless or are homeless.
The guide will also be useful if you for a worker or a family member who is offering support to a lesbian, gay or bisexual person.
Document that provides background information on the problem of rough sleeping and outlines government policy on this issue.
Report that draws on evidence from over 80 homeless people who took part in our survey and in depth peer research discussing what ideas within the Big Society mean for homeless people and what some of the barriers might be to their greater participation and inclusion. It looks at new research from the public, sector leaders and St Mungo’s staff (see Appendix for details).
Research on the overall priorities of homeless service users in Scotland.
Report about young people, aged under 16, who run away from home or care and how that might be related to future homelessness.
Shelter Scotland believes that today's runaways are tomorrow's young homeless people and that if we are serious about preventing homelessness then addressing why children and young people run away is essential.
Guide that describes effective ways of recognising and meeting the psychological and emotional needs of people who have experienced homelessness, are sleeping rough or living in insecure accommodation, in particular young people and rough sleepers with histories of complex trauma/personality disorder. It outlines the national policy context, the research evidence which informs developing practice, and explores the issues for service providers and commissioners.
The Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Act 2003 takes forward the proposals for legislative change incorporated in the final report of the Homelessness Task Force. The Act amends existing homelessness legislation, contained in the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 and the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001. It also makes changes to repossession proceedings for houses let on assured tenancies, as currently set out in the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988.
