It gives key points, the background and the characteristics of care provision and discusses access to services, leisure, health, housing, and quality of life and care recipients.

Dignity in care web site

Dignity in Care is a campaign being run by the Department of Health's website in the UK. It "aims to eliminate tolerance of indignity in health and social care services through raising awareness and inspiring people to take action." The focus of the campaign has mainly been on older people but has now been extended to include people with mental health needs. The website provides further information on the different aspects of the campaign, including relevant publications.

The healthcare quality strategy for Scotland: draft strategy document

Draft strategy document that sets out the proposals for a Quality Strategy for NHS Scotland. These proposals are based on knowledge about what works well in Scotland, and builds on the range of excellent progress and work underway already at local, regional and national levels. The strategy has been developed through wide ranging discussions with the people working in NHS Scotland, and with patients and carers.

Primary Medical Services (Scotland) Act 2004

This Act of Scottish Parliament applies to primary medical services. The Act is in two main parts (Provision of primary medical services and General) and 9 sections with a schedule. The sections in Part 1 look at the functions of Health Boards; the provision of primary medical services; revocation of power to make pilot schemes; persons performing primary medical services as well as assistance and support. Part 2 of the Act covers ancillary provision; modification of enactments and also includes a commencement and short title.

Quality Standards for Adult Hearing Rehabilitation Services

Quality Standards for Adult Hearing Rehabilitation. In January 2003, the Public Health Institute of Scotland (PHIS) published a Needs Assessment Report on NHS Audiology Services in Scotland. This report identified a number of areas in which Audiology services were failing to meet the standards expected by service users and other stakeholders. The modernisation of hearing aid services tried to address these areas as well as modernise the patient journey.

The Scottish Recovery Indicator (SRI) is a tool designed to allow an assessment of how far organisations providing mental health services are meeting their users needs in terms of their rights to equality, social inclusion and support to recover.

Working Together sets out how all agencies and professionals should work together to safeguard and promote children’s welfare and the Assessment Framework outlines a framework for use by all those who work with children and families determining whether a child is in need under the Children Act 1989 and deciding how best to provide help.
