Report that provides details of how safeguarding practices have been improved in the areas of leadership and management; recruiting, maintaining and retaining a highly competent workforce; quality assurance and performance management; referral and assessment processes and procedures; and partnership working.

It gives localised accounts of practice implementation and, where possible, evidence of outcomes.

International perspectives on quality in initial teacher education : an exploratory review of selected international documentation on statutory requirements and quality assurance

This review aims to inform both the policy and the research debates about the relationship between the organisation, management and framework for initial teacher education and its quality. It aims to inform the policy debate by providing an analytical, but accessible, international review of the evidence about, and approaches to, the impact of structures on quality. Further, it aims to support the development of practice by offering a systematic survey of international perspectives on the relationship between structures and quality.

Queens Cross Nursery Aberdeen [report of inspection by HMIE on behalfof both HMIE and the Care Commission]

Queens Cross Nursery was inspected in April 2009. The centre caters for pre-school children aged three to five years. It is registered for 18 children attending at any one session. The total roll was 14 at the time of the inspection. As a result of the good quality of education provided by the centre no further visits are required.

Equality in later life: a national study of older people's mental health services

This study of older people's mental health services assessed available national data and visited specialist mental health trusts. The interview tool covered questions relation to several of the core standards used by the Healthcare Commission to assess trusts' performance. The key findings are reported in four main themes: age discrimination, the quality of inpatient care, the comprehensiveness of services; and working with other organisations (how specialist services worked with primary care, adult social services and acute hospitals).

West Lothian Child Protection Committee Annual Report 2005 – 2006

The Child Protection Committee (CPC) is the lynchpin in implementing strategic plans at local level. In this report the CPC has, in accordance with the National Guidance on Child Protection Committees – Protecting Children and Young People 2005 (Appendix 2), given an account of its work in the previous year, demonstrated the quality of inter-agency co-operation in undertaking the work of the Committee, and presented a business plan for the coming year.
