Report explaining and proposing the concept of "citizen leadership" as a means of empowering service users and carers through enabling them to directly influence and shape the development and implementation of the Changing Lives agenda.

Local authority? : how to develop leadership for better public services

Report focusing on the difficulties public sector organisations often have engaging with the communities they serve to find solutions to problems or winning legitimacy for leaders and public institutions. It questions why leadership in a partnership context is really necessary and arranges the issues into an agenda for practical action and policy change.

The Scottish Human Rights Commission

This document sets out the Scottish Executive’s detailed proposals for a Scottish Human Rights Commission. The Scottish Executive believes that this new body will be a key means to ensure that human rights are protected in Scotland and will also help to develop a ‘culture’ of human rights. By promoting human rights, the Commission will work to ensure that you are more aware of your rights in the future and that you understand how they apply to you and to your family. It discusses the quality and impact of youth work and follows developments in the introduction of integrated youth support.

Leadership in the public sector in Scotland (ESRC seminar series)

Report providing a critical overview of developments in leadership theory in recent years and of its application through Scottish public sector leadership development training. It also aims to provide a stocktake of public sector leadership development provision with a view to helping inform conversations on the limitations of existing provision, how it might be improved and the challenges to leadership development posed by a difficult economic climate.

Enriching opportunities: unlocking potential: searching for the keys

The Enriched Opportunities Programme is an intervention developed by the ExtraCare Charitable Trust and Bradford Dementia group that aimed to improve the well-being and activity of people with dementia living in long-term care. The programme included five key elements: specialist expertise; individualised assessment and case work; activity and occupation; staff training; management and leadership. This research evaluates the impact of the intervention on residents and tenants and on the staff caring for them.
