Implementation of the safer social networking principles (2011)

In September 2011, the European Commission published the second batch of the findings of a second independent assessment of the implementation of the Safer Social Networking Principles for the EU. This includes results of tests on 9 social networking sites. The first batch, including results of tests on 14 sites was published in June 2011.

It presents a sample of Internet-based DTI programmes across Europe and outlines their methodologies, providing a series of screen shots to further demonstrate the websites’ content and to provide an overall impression of the types of online treatment available.

Evaluation of CEOP ThinkUKnow internet safety programme and exploration of young people's internet safety knowledge

The ThinkuKnow (TUK) programme is managed by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) and is part of its programme to reduce the harm caused by those individuals that seek to abuse children and young people through the misuse of technology. This research aimed to explore young people‘s understanding and awareness of messages from the CEOP TUK Internet safety programme, whilst also exploring young people‘s Internet use and risk taking behaviour.

Handbook containing information and advice to help parents deal successfully with various issues which can affect children such as childcare, health and safety, education, sex and relationships.

Transforming adult social care: access to information, advice and advocacy

Reports on current activity and research in relation to information, advice and advocacy and the delivery of 'Putting People First'. The research included: a literature review; a survey of directors of adults social services; a review of a sample of local authority and national websites; and in-depth work with selected local authorities and national organisations. Examples of good practice and recommendations for the development of services are included.
