The Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) Evaluation project: final report

Report that presents the findings from the evaluation of the first pilot Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) in Britain.

FDAC is a new approach to care proceedings, in cases where parental substance misuse is a key element in the local authority decision to bring proceedings. It is being piloted at the Inner London Family Proceedings Court in Wells Street.

Criminal justice social work statistics 2009-10

Statistical bulletin which presents national level information on activity relating to community penalties in Scotland, derived from Local Authority Social Work management information systems.

It provides information on various aspects of criminal justice social work such as Social Enquiry Reports (SERs), Community Service Orders (CSOs), Probation Orders (POs), Supervised Attendance Orders (SAOs) and Drug Treatment and Testing Orders (DTTOs).

Review of the Glasgow and Fife Drug Courts report

Pilot Drug Courts were introduced in October 2001 in Glasgow and in August 2002 in Fife. Following broadly positive evaluations of the pilot schemes in 2006, Scottish Ministers agreed to continue funding the Drug Courts for a further 3 years until Spring 2009. The purpose of this review is to assess the impact and effectiveness of the two Drug Courts, including cost effectiveness, in light of the impact of the summary justice reforms.

Mental Health (Public Safety and Appeals) (Scotland) Act 1999 (repealed)

The purpose of this Act of the Scottish Parliament is to add public safety to the grounds for not discharging certain patients detained under the Mental Health (Scotland) Act 1984; to provide for appeal against the decision of the sheriff on applications by these patients for their discharge; and to amend the definition of 'mental disorder' in that Act.

Crime and Disorder Act 1998

This legislation sets out procedures for the prevention of crime and disorder with reference to: anti-social behaviour orders and youth crime; criminal law and racially aggravated offences; the criminal justice system and youth justice; dealing with offenders, specifically sexual offenders, those dependent on drugs and young offenders. Further procedure is laid out in respect of the detention, release and recall of prisoners and increased powers of arrest by the police.
